Welcome to Back to School night for 8C. My name is Trish Gibbons and I’m your child’s guidance counselor. I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Below you will find an overview of areas that I can be of assistance in making your child’s middle school year both positive and successful.
Team Meetings
- Attend weekly Team Meetings- 8C meeting times: Thursdays @ 8:35am
- Discuss concerns regarding individual students
- Communicate questions, information, and concerns between home and school
- Schedule parents to attend team meetings as needed
Counseling
Academics
Special Education/Section 504
- Attend IEP meetings and contribute to the development of the IEP
- Schedule and chair Section 504 meetings; develop Section 504 plans
- Classroom observations of individual students who are having special education evaluations
Transition to a High School Setting
- Classroom presentation of information to students regarding Burlington High School academic and other course requirements
- Schedule and meet with parents and students regarding planning a schedule for grade 9 at Burlington High School.
- Assist students who are interested in applying to Shawsheen Vocational Technical High School.
